We are pleased to announce that Eddie Baca has accepted the position as Director and Administrator of Montgomery Christian Academy, effective June 1. After an extensive search process, Mr. Baca became the sole finalist for the position that included input from a search committee including parents, teachers, community leaders, and board members. MCA teachers and board members also evaluated finalists. We are confident that this process has led us to the most deserving and qualified candidate to lead our school. Mr. Baca holds a master’s degree from Texas State University and has more than 30 years of experience in education. He has been a teacher, a coach, and an administrator at both public and private Christian schools. Most importantly, Mr. Baca’s profound leadership abilities were evident at each phase of the search process. He engaged MCA stakeholders with a Christ-centered approach and a discerning heart.
Brittney Smith has been happily married to her husband, Anthony, for 8 years. Together they have 2 children and enjoy fishing, taking evening golf cart rides, going to the beach, as well as cooking. The Smiths have attended Fellowship of Montgomery for 3 years and truly love living in Montgomery, Texas!
Brittney lives in the daily mindset of "Those who leave everything in God's hands will eventually see God's hands in everything".
Nori begins her first year at MCA with 37 years of experience in education in both public and private Christian schools.Her years in education span all grade levels, with her current position being director of a bilingual school in Tegucigalpa, FM, Honduras, where Nori and her husband spent almost 8 years as volunteer foreign missionaries. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. Nori and her husband, Ruben, have been married thirty-eight years and have a son, Matthew, a daughter, Melissa, and a son-in-law, Cody Stephens. She enjoys reading and learning new things, traveling and spending time with family and pets! She has a heart for young children and looks forward to working with and getting to know the staff and students.
Mrs. Hancock is a native Houstonian, and has lived in Magnolia for the past 24 years. She is a graduate of Sam Houston State University where she received her Bachelor and Masters degrees. She taught kindergarten for 30 years before retiring and has also served as an adjunct faculty at LeTourneau University in Houston.
Mrs. Hancock has been married to her husband Mike for 31 years. He too was an educator, who is now retired. They have been blessed with a daughter, Ashleigh, 25, a graduate from Texas State University with a Business degree. She now lives and works in Berkeley, California. Their son, Alex, 23, attends Texas State University and will soon graduate with a Business degree in marketing. Their family has been members of Wildwood United Methodist Church in Magnolia for 16 years.
Mrs. Hancock enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, camping, reading, shopping and decorating her home. She loves working with our youngest students and growing them in God’s word. She believes in fostering children in their growth through fun, hands-on, developmentally appropriate activities in a warm, inviting environment.
Robyn Fox, our K5 teacher, grew up in Louisiana, but received her degree in Education from Sam Houston State University. She has 25 years of early childhood and elementary classroom experience. Ms. Fox has two daughters and a son in-law. Kaitlin and her husband, Sam, are both educators in Montgomery Independent School District, and Kennedy is a Senior at Texas A&M University working toward her Master’s in Education with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction. Ms. Fox is an avid reader, loves antique shopping, collecting plants, and spending time in her backyard garden with her chickens. She is looking forward to serving the families of Montgomery and helping the children of Montgomery Christian Academy grow in God’s word.
Mrs. Mellen grew up in Montgomery and attended Montgomery ISD from K-12th grade. After graduating from Sam Houston State University, she moved to Magnolia to begin her teaching career. Mrs. Mellen worked at Magnolia ISD for 29 years, where she taught kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades.Mrs Mellen felt a calling to Christian education and took a step of faith and retired from public education. For the past 2.5 years, she has been blessed to be at Montgomery Christian Academy. She loves the opportunity to help children grow both academically and spiritually. She is looking forward to her 32nd year as a teacher.Mrs. Mellen is married to her husband, Joel, who is also in education. They enjoy their time as empty nesters, but love to spend time with their three adult children. The Mellens love to travel, camp, and spend time with family and friends.They are active in their church at Wildwood Methodist.
Mrs. Frazier was blessed to grow up in a Christian household in Midland, Texas. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Texas at Austin for a year and a half before transferring to Texas A&M University. She graduated from A&M with a Bachelor of Science in 2005.
Mrs. Frazier worked in veterinary pharmaceuticals until the birth of her first child in 2009, at which time she left the professional world to become a stay-at-home mom. After 10 years of serving her family, serving as a PTO president and vice-president, and substitute teaching, Mrs. Frazier found a passion for teaching and education, and pursued her teaching certificate. This will be her third year at Montgomery Christian Academy, and she can't imagine teaching anywhere else!
Mrs. Frazier has been married to her husband, Ben, for 14 years. They made several moves throughout their marriage, and lived in DFW, New Braunfels, and Orlando before settling in Montgomery in 2016. They have two children, Carter and Claire. The family also attends Hope Church Montgomery.
Mrs. Frazier loves Jesus, her husband, and her kids! She also enjoys reading, crafting, and sewing. The entire family enjoys spending time together in the outdoors.
Mrs. Frazier has a heart for teaching and serving, and believes that positive relationships between teachers, students, and parents, are the key to a successful learning environment. She is excited about serving the families of Montgomery Christian Academy, and looks forward to watching her students grow both spiritually and academically.
Leslie Sheffield was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. After graduating from high school, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Education from Angelo State University. She taught 4th grade Language Arts and Gifted & Talented in Virginia Beach, Virginia for four years and has been at Montgomery Christian Academy for three years.
Mrs. Sheffield has been married to her husband, Justin, for almost 20 years, and they have two amazing boys, Landon(12) and Colton(9). Leslie was a military spouse for over 15 years until her husband was medically retired in 2014 for wounds sustained in combat. The Sheffield’s felt God’s calling to move back home to Texas from the mountains of Idaho and to officially call Montgomery their home in the summer of 2017. They have become active members at First Montgomery Baptist.
The Sheffield family enjoys spending time together and cherishes every moment that they are all together. Mrs. Sheffield loves being outdoors, playing soccer with her boys, tending to her chickens, or camping as a family. She loves to workout, play volleyball, and is a self-proclaimed puzzle master.
Mrs. Sheffield is passionate about reading and hopes she will inspire students to become avid readers in and out of her classroom. Her philosophy of education is one that believes teachers, parents, and students must work together in order to create a safe, loving, and positive classroom environment to help students develop into lifelong learners. All children learn differently, think differently, and have experienced life in different settings. Mrs. Sheffield's approach to learning is one that will allow her to meet each student's needs in an appropriate way.
She is truly excited to see the Lord work in her classroom and to connect reading, math, history and science to the Word of God. She not only wants to see her students excel academically, but to see them grow in the Lord and to become Godly leaders of the future.
Kris Feldman is the 3rd and 4th grade English Language Arts/Heritage Studies teacher. Mrs. Feldman has 17 years of teaching experience in both public and private Christian education, including teaching in the areas of Special Education K-5, Elementary Ed. Pre-K-5, ESL and Reading Recovery.
Mrs. Feldman is originally from Moorhead, Minnesota…a small town across the river from Fargo, North Dakota. After graduating from Moorhead State University, she accepted a teaching position in Spring Branch ISD in Houston, TX, where she taught for 10 years. Mrs. Feldman also taught Pre-K at Epiphany Lutheran School in Jersey Village as well as Kindergarten at Christ Community School in The Woodlands.
Mrs. Feldman has been married to her husband, Mark, for 20 years. Magnolia, Texas has been their home for the last 12 years. They have 3 sons, Kole (who will be a sophomore at Texas A&M this Fall), Mason (who will be a freshman at Texas A&M this Fall) and Grant (who will be a junior at Magnolia High School). All 3 boys are Eagle Scouts and the family is active in their church (StoneBridge), where they volunteer in various youth ministries and foster care programs.
In addition to volunteering, the Feldman family enjoys camping, traveling, exploring, swimming, BBQ’s and family time with their 3 dogs, Ruby, Roxie and Scout.
Mrs. Feldman has a passion for teaching and for sharing the redeeming love of Christ. She looks forward to sharing that love with all of her students and family at MCA.
Mrs. Leslie Baca grew up in Pasadena, TX. Graduated from Stephen F Austin State University with a degree in Speech and Hearing. Leslie became a Christian in college, where she met and married Eddie. She and Eddie have been married for 42 years and have 5 sons and 7 grandchildren. In 2008, Mrs. Baca received her math certificate and has been teaching math for the past 13 years. Her hobbies are reading, gardening and spending time with family. Leslie's favorite Bible verse is John 10:10, and she is so excited to be here at MCA teaching.
Mrs. Tamara Pendleton has been teaching for 13 years. Tamara has been married 15 years and has 2 children. Her hobbies include traveling, camping and reading.
High school football coach for 33 years. Coached varsity football as a defensive coordinator. Was also a Head Coach of basketball, soccer and track at various times.
Married for 31 years to Gracie, who has two children. Ashleigh and Alex. Coach Hancock's hobbies and interests include RV camping, traveling, and playing games with family and friends. Mike also enjoys playing golf.
